I can’t stop posting GIFs, not when the internet keeps producing ingenious variations on our modern-day animated art medium: these slightly creepy GIFs by 21-year-old French designer Guillaume Kurkdjian are pretty amusing. The muted pastel palette belies how subtly macabre or eerie each GIF can be– Kurkdjian’s little figures are constantly battling an array of catastrophes, disasters, accidents, or supernatural creatures, on loop.
You can get more GIFs at Kurkdjian’s Tumblr Bisous Les Copains, which is updated weekly.
The simplicity of these GIFs bring a note of the “flat UI” trend to GIFs, and Kurkdjian’s use of “flat” shadows and depth is wonderfully executed here. [Via Defringe.]
