This is one dedicated fan right here: Japanese artist Ham runs a one-person fan club for the artist Beck Hansen, who recently published through McSweeney’s a book of sheet music for people to play at home. The book, “Song Reader,” was designed by typographer Jessica Hische with elaborate swirls of white on the navy blue cover, and in his supreme adoration for Beck, Ham stepped in to create this fantastic quilled reproduction of that cover, made completely out of paper.
The precise paper duplicate is beautifully detailed, and there is even a time-lapse video of Ham painstakingly putting together the piece to one of the songs from “Song Reader” itself (performed by Max Miller.)
The level of detail and dedication is impressive, and its a wonderful collision of so many layers of collaboration between artists, web publishers, typographers, and fans. I love the internet. [Via Doobybrain.]
