The design duo at Raw Edges created this amazing PlaidBench collection recently: they take apart typical urban benches such as the picnic bench and the school bench, and frankenstein them together into a beautiful plaid creation.
I’m really fond of the mix of rainbow colors in adult tones, plus they preserve all the elements of each bench within the PlaidBench– all of the bench legs are woven into the plaid too! Via Design Milk:
The collection is assembled out of interlocking iconic urban benches into a plaid surface. Most benches are typically assembled in a striped pattern. Shay Alkalay and Yael Mer have deconstructed the common bench and rearranged its pattern to be similar to that of a textile plaid, playfully arranging the colorful boards in both horizontal and vertical fashion.
The construction of these pieces looks so complicated yet simple– how do weave together interlocking colors on the top of the tables without causing the legs on the bottom to clash together?
Gorgeous, playful work. [Via Design Milk.]
